It was actually a last-minute decision to go to the show! Our original plan was to go to Something Wicked, but since that didn’t work out, we were lucky to be able to attend this exciting event.

Underground DJs, Loudpvick bringing us new and fresh music.įlux Pavilion is currently on tour in North America to promote his new album, Tesla. You know how at these shows, the opening acts are sometimes bands/artists you’ve never heard of (underground is the term to use) so you don’t show up until the main act is scheduled to start? It’s been a while since I’ve done that! After becoming such a regular at festivals and live music events, I’ve become more open-minded about music and I’m so glad my friends and I showed up early enough to see all acts and it definitely gets the energy built up for the main event. Flux Pavilion is a popular electro house DJ from the UK it was incredible to see him perform live!Īlong with Flux Pavilion, opening acts included the more underground Loudpvck, an electro pair of trap-style DJs from LA, as well as Lebanese DJ, Diskord. The place was packed with an energetic crowd of Flux fans who just wanted to dance! Flux Pavilion typically plays for thousands of people at a time and is a regular performer at festivals, which I love oh so much, so playing at The Marc was definitely a different experience for him. People from all over Texas come to San Marcos for these concerts and this one was definitely no exception. In celebration of a friend’s birthday, a group of us gathered at The Marc, a popular venue where tons of shows are played. It feels like I’ve been going everywhere lately in order to get my live music fix but on Thursday night, big-time DJ, Flux Pavilion came to perform in our cute little town of San Marcos, Texas.

But that’s okay hopefully next year the weather will be on our side and I’ll be able to write about the experience. 3 The annual Halloween rave in Houston, Texas was not able to happen due to thunderstorms/flooding and just total weather madness. Hey music lovers! First of all, let me express my sadness about Something Wicked being cancelled this year. In 2012 Bassnectar sold a quarter of a million concert tickets excluding festival performances.ĭespite not having any real commercial success with his albums, Bassnectar has managed to create a community who have a shared adoration for his momentous electro and ambitious live performance which has been known to incorporate musical collaborators and circus performers.Something Wicked may have been cancelled, but we found another way to celebrate my friend Beto’s birthday, at a Flux Pavilion show right in our town of San Marcos.

Bassnectar also performs regularly at a variety of music festivals, including Bonnaroo, Coachella, the Electric Daisy Carnival, Lollapalooza, and Wakarusa. His performance for New Year's Eve 2011 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville sold out to 13,000 fans+, and a sequel event has taken place every following year to date, with Bassnectar performing from a rotating stage at the center of the arena which allowed every member of the audience get a fantastic view of his spectacular show. In 2005, he began touring constantly in the States as well as all over the world, these included a regular stop at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 2011, 2012, 20 as well a special performance each New Year's Eve. Bassnectar is famed for his live performances and light shows. He cut his teeth on the house party circuit of San Francisco's Bay Area under the name DJ Lorin, this basement quality is still evident in his live mixing qualities today. A real reason he became affiliated with the genre was due to his enjoyment of raves in the mid-90's, where he found the house/dance vibes so exciting and inspiring that he began to create his own brand of genre bending electro and has continued to develop on these founding inspirations ever since. Bassnectar's original musical influences included metal and rock bands such as Metallica, Megadeth and Nirvana so some may find it hard to believe that he pursued an electro/drum & bass career but those early influences are still evident on tracks such as 'Seek & Destroy' and 'Boomerang'. Lorin grew up in a San Francisco and initially found a love of the visual arts rather than music, creating movies with his dad’s camera when he was just 10 years.
